Accessibility Statement

We build to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, we name the places we fall short, and you can always book by phone instead.

Our commitment

Natalie ’ s Cleaning wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, screen magnification or voice control. We are working to conform toWCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard United States courts consistently apply and the one referenced by the Department of Justice.

What we have built in

Accessibility here is part of the build rather than a plugin bolted on afterwards. Specifically:

  • Colour contrast.Every text and background pair on this site was checked against WCAG 2.1 AA before launch — 4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and interface elements.
  • Keyboard navigation.Every link, button, form field and menu can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus outline.
  • Skip to content.A skip link is the first thing focused on every page, so keyboard and screen-reader users can jump past the navigation.
  • Real form labels.Every field has a proper< label >rather than placeholder text only, and validation errors are announced to screen readers.
  • Alt text.Every photograph has a description of what it actually shows. Decorative icons are hidden from screen readers so they are not announced as meaningless graphics.
  • Headings in order.Oneh1per page and no skipped heading levels, so the page can be navigated by structure.
  • Accessible menus.The mobile menu reports its state, closes on Escape and returns focus where it should.
  • Phone numbers.Every phone link carries a label that reads the digits out individually rather than as one enormous number.
  • Reduced motion.If your device asks for reduced motion, animations and smooth scrolling are switched off.
  • Resizable text.Text can be enlarged to 200% without breaking the layout or hiding content.
  • No pop-ups.Nothing on this site covers the page when you arrive.

Known limitations

We would rather name these than claim perfection:

  • The embedded map on our contact pageis provided by Google and we do not control its accessibility. Everything the map conveys — the full list of cities we serve — is also written out as text on the same page and on ourservice areas page, so no information is available only inside the map.
  • Photographs of our workare described in alt text, but a description of a clean kitchen is never a full substitute for seeing it. If you want more detail about a photo, call us.

We are also aware that no overlay widget or plugin makes a website compliant, whatever its vendor claims — several such products have themselves attracted litigation. That is why this site does not use one.

Tell us if something does not work

If any part of this website is difficult or impossible for you to use, we want to hear about it, and we will fix it. It also means you can always book a clean without using the website at all — call us and a person will take your details and give you a price on the phone.

Assessment

This statement reflects a self-assessment carried out when the site was built, using automated colour-contrast checking on every palette pair, manual keyboard-only testing of every page, and review of heading structure and form labelling. It has not been audited by an independent third party. We review it whenever the site changes materially.
